Goodbye Boys! See you in a week!

About four months ago my mom called me and volunteered to take our kids for a week. "You and RJ should have some time to yourselves. And we love love to have our grandsons." So, naturally, I agreed - practically jumping through the phone line to hug her in my enthusiasum. 

So Saturday we met my parents at a McDonalds on I5. After an ice cream sundae and five million kisses the loads were loaded into Oma and Grandpa'scar and we waved them off. 

Then RJ and I turned west and headed to our favorite place - Capitola. (After taking a moment to close our eyes and relish the quiet.)

Capitola is home to some of our favorite people, favorite surf spots, and favorite memories. It's where we had our first kiss - nearly 12 years ago! And its one of our favorite places to just get away and relax. 

So far we've spent time with family, had a fabulous day in the sun with a good friend, explored local breweries and surf shops, drank promium coffee, surfed TOGETHER, surfed again, slept in, and taken naps. 

I miss my boys but I am so thankful for this time with my husband. Over the past 12 years he's grown taller, gotten more handsome, taken on more responsiblity, grown spiritually, and a fathered two darling boys - all of which I love him dearly for. But I love that when we get away from it all - responsibility and the daily grind - he's still that high-energy goofy kid I fell in love with while riding a yellow beach cruiser to go watch the surf.
