Landon's arrival takes place over 3 days and 24+ hours....

Monday, April 13th -

The midwife checked and I was only 1cm dilated and not yet thinned. She assured us that there was a good chance our son would arrive on his own later in the week but we still went ahead and scheduled an induction date of April 19th.

After my morning appointment I met up with Kelly for some shopping at the Camarillo outlets and errands to Babies R Us and Costco. I was on my feet all day and felt great, except for some continual cramping that I passed off as "false labor."

Monday evening I cooked up some steaks for RJ and I and prepared the guest room b/c my good friend Shelley, her brand new baby boy Miles, and her mom were going to be stopping over to spend the night on their way up to SLO. Before dinner RJ kept complaining of a stomach ache and he decided to skip the meal. An hour later I found him running to the restroom. The poor guy got hit with a nasty 24 hour bug and it was really bad.

I sent RJ to bed and fiddled around the house until about 10pm. the cramping continuing but acting really mild and continuous unlike contractions. I heard Shelley come in and head to the guest room around 11pm. At 12:00 midnight I got "the show" and half an hour later my first contraction - in the middle of my back.

Tuesday, April 14 -

RJ had finally setting down into a deep sleep but the contractions in my back wouldn't let me lay down or sit without major pain. By 2am I knew I was definitely in real labor. I gave up trying to get comfortable in bed, left RJ sleeping, and started pacing the living room while reading up on back labor. At 4am I called my mom worried that my labor coach was going to be too ill to take care of me. Mom got there at 6:30, just as the contractions going beyond uncomfortable and into painful. A few minutes later Shelley woke up and got thrown into the action.

There's lots more but my family is clamoring for pics so I'll have to pick up the rest of the birth story in a bit....

So, I am hooked on your intriguing yet crazy labor story. I can't believe RJ had the flu when you went into labor! Looking forward to hearing the rest of the story. And, Landon is simply adorable looking! Seriously a cute baby!

What?! You can't just give us HALF the birth story! I'm dying to hear the rest of it - PLEASE! Already I can tell it wasn't an easy labor, considering you still have 18 hours to go in your story and you've already hit "hard" labor. Your boy is beautiful. I can't wait for him to meet Tess.

Wow! That's so sad that RJ was so sick! I'm anxious to hear the end of your story. The pictures of the baby are adorable! I love his blond, blond hair-just like his mom and dad. Do you call him Richard or do you have a nick name for him?
