We said goodbye to our wonderful family in Capitola today and hit the road again. Except for a major meltdown from the little one while passing through San Francisco it was an overall positive travel experience: we played a few rounds of "I Spy", listened to good tunes, and Landon even got to hit up his first ever McDonalds play place. RJ and I took advantage of the rare fast-food experience to indulge in McFlurries.
Now we are camped out in a random apple orchard in Philo (Mendocino county).
Actually it's not all that random. We wanted to camp in Mendocino but found out that 2 of the 4 campgrounds have closed bc of state budget cuts and so getting a campsite can be tough. Our friends Blair & Michelle heard about our situation and saved the day (Thanks friends!). Michelle's step-mom has a beautiful apple orchard in the area and she graciously offered to let us pull our trailer in and set up camp (no one lives here although we got lucky bc her brother was visiting when we pulled in and we got to borrow his gold cart to tour the land). I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first (90 degree heat, dried out creek, and no facilities). But now that we've set up camp, the temp has dropped, we've feasted on apples and blackberries, the kids are asleep, and it's just RJ and I with not a soul around I'm getting pretty into it.

My Grandparents lived in Philo for almost 50 years! They moved down the hill just 2 years ago. Isn't it a lovely area? Random, but lovely!
