RJ and I are both terrible about remembering to video record Landon growing up, but we've always made sure to get some video of him on his birthdays. This year I combined our usual birthday video with yet another Pinterest idea - asking the birthday boy/girl the same 20 questions each birthday and recording their answers. Then you can compare them as they grow.
Presenting, Landon, age 3:
1. What is your favorite color? YELLOW!
2. What is your favorite toy? baseball. bat and tee
3. What is your favorite fruit? oranges
4. What is your favorite TV show? Yo Gabba Gabba (This is news to mom since he's only ever watched it twice and didn't seem to care for it)
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? turkey
6. What is your favorite outfit? robot shirt (except he doesn't have a robot shirt)
7. What is your favorite game? cartoon game (?????)
8. What is your favorite snack? little yogurts! (those small, full-fat creamy yogurts from Traders)
9. What is your favorite animal? Avery (first answer) Pony (second answer)
10. What is your favorite song? The Itsy-Bitsy Spider
11. What is your favorite book? Duck on a Bike
12. Who is your best friend? Avery
13. Do you like cereal? yes! (He's only had it once so I couldn't ask him what his favorite cereal is)
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Rockets! (Rocker launcher toy)
15. What is your favorite drink? chocolate milk
16. What is your favorite holiday? Easter
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Binkie! (His blanket)
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Macaroni
19. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner? Tacos
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? a giant dinosaur
So there you have it - he's a pretty simple kid who enjoys macaroni at all times of the day, robots, baseball and giant dinosaurs. I would say he's right on track for his age.
Since two of Landon's favorite things in the world are bounce houses and friends we decided to throw him a birthday party this year. We got the big bounce house with a slide and despite hurricane-force winds managed to keep all 12 preschoolers (and their parents and their siblings) entertained and happy.
I found myself getting a bit more emotionally involved in Landon's birthday party than I normally would have. I think the understanding that his little brother will be here soon and life will never be the same for my firstborn have been catching up with me. Of course, I am thrilled Landon will have a brother (and heaven knows he needs to learn to share!) but for three years it's been just the two of us during the day and we are both in for a bit of an adjustment this summer.
So it was one last HURRAH for being an only child.
Landon wanted a CARS themed birthday. You can see some of the fun details I pulled together (thanks internet/Pinterest) after the jump
