Bump!

Monday, October 27, 2008

Here's the bump at 17 weeks. My stomach muscles are starting to stretch and pull. Doc says I should be able to feel the baby any day now which is super exciting. I have a feeling I'll be one of those people who thinks the baby is just a gas bubble for a few days before I figure it out.

And can someone explain to me why the bump is so high? The baby feel low, down near my hands, but the bump is extending nearly to my chest. What is all that?

I surfed my last wave for awhile on Saturday. I felt great - until I had to lay on my stomach to paddle. Sadly I'm out of the water until next summer. Or maybe I'll take up paddle boarding.

Today also marked my first use of a rubber band to hold my jeans together. All day long I roughed it out with the button clasped until about 4pm when I suddenly felt bad for my unborn child who was being squished inside my favorite jeans. Sacrificing my child's comfort for a pair of Paige denim...I have much to learn!

I just got these boots for the baby. Aren't they the cutest thing!

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. RJ and I are really excited about this next phase of our life. Some of you asked for details, so here's a brief overview of what's been going on.

At 14 weeks I will be in my 2nd Trimester on Monday (yippee!). We had our first ultrasound 3 weeks ago, and besides the exruciating pain of an extremally full bladder, it was amazing. Out little peanut is due on Easter Sunday, April 12th.

I've been feeling SO much better these last two weeks. My hormones seem to be in better balance (although anything remotely sad or touching causes waterworks), and I have alot more energy. Thankfully I never had problems keeping food down, but I did have quite a bit of naseau, food aversion, and extreme exhaustion. At times it felt like running a marathon just to get myself from the bedroom to the bathroom and back again.

Although I'm only three months I have a teeny tiny bulge (it helps that I usually gain weight in the middle anyway). RJ is at a Wild at Heart men's conference in Colorado this weekend but when he returns I'll have time take the first belly shot.

I've been seeing a really good midwife but we are still checking out different doctors and midwives; we want to make sure we have the very best person delivering our child. Labor and delivery has me completely freaked out, but mostly I'm pushing it out of my head and living in denial. I'll face it when the due dates gets a bit closer.

We want to find out the sex. I always thought I would want to be surprised, but I'm too excited to plan the nursery and pick out cute things that aren't just yellow and green.

I think it is a boy.

We haven't been thinking about names too much. Mostly b/c our boy name was picked out for us years ago; we don't have much of a choice in the matter. Anyone remember what it is?
